Special Olympic National Games

The City of Sheffield will host the Special Olympic National Games from Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th August 2017.
The Games will bring together over 2600 athletes with learning disabilities competing in 19 sports. As with all Olympic events, the games are held every 4 years, the last being in Bath in 2013. This event provides an opportunity to showcase the abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities, allowing them to compete at a national level, experience the personal achievement this brings, as well as enable them to make friends, travel and socialise. Many athletes who compete at these Games will have the opportunity to be selected to represent Great Britain in future Special Olympics European and World Games.
The tennis event will be held on 4 of the indoor courts at Graves Health & Sports Centre, Bochum Parkway, Sheffield, S8 8JR. All matches will have an ABTO qualified umpire but we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers aged 14 or over with an interest in tennis, to be court supervisors.
